At 11:11 on 11/11 World War One ended. That day and time are the genesis of our modern Veterans Day.
This week we celebrate our Veterans..those brave men and women who have fought and died all over the World defending our freedom and our way of life. In a Cemetary in Altoona Pa. lie the remains of my Grandfather, Father, and two uncles, all of whom were proud Veterans. They were a part of the Pennsylvania National Guard, founded by non other than Benjamin Franklin himself. As we honor Veterans this week I can’t help but think about the fact that these 4 men and millions like them were not lifetime soldiers, they responded to the call and afterwards returned home to get married, have careers, have children and live the rest of their lives seperate from their military service. What is it that the military impresses on men and women that they carry with them for the rest of their lives. Here are some thoughts
