When I was was young my mother used to say “people are usually as happy as they decide to be” She would encourage us to put a period at the end of every day a period at the end of every unsatisfying experience. She believed in living each day as it came, take the good, accept the bad and move on to a new tomorrow.
Scientific research bears out what Mom knew, that there are specific definable habits of very happy people. Here are some actionable items to improve your happiness quotient.

Little things can make a big big difference.
When I was nine and again when I was twelve a very young Minister, Charlie Hess made sure that the tiny Caton Methodist Church paid my way to go to “Summer CamP”. Those two Camp experieinces opened the world in a larger sense, to me. I met kids and adults I had never been exposed to before and they have benefited me for the intervening 55 years. In 1971, another young Minister, Val Jon Jensen gave me a book he thought I might benefit from “Peter Marshall” about a Senate Chaplain who served God faithfully. This also impacted me in a major way and is one of the main reason’s that I have been an Ordained Baptist Minister for over 33 years. Prehaps you can think of little things that someone has done for you that had a big bigger, biggest impact on your life. Here are a few thoughts on little things
Little things come and go, they provide flavor, spice, intensity and life to our life. If you would like to contact Dr Richard-775-683-1108 [email protected] At 11:11 on 11/11 World War One ended. That day and time are the genesis of our modern Veterans Day.
This week we celebrate our Veterans..those brave men and women who have fought and died all over the World defending our freedom and our way of life. In a Cemetary in Altoona Pa. lie the remains of my Grandfather, Father, and two uncles, all of whom were proud Veterans. They were a part of the Pennsylvania National Guard, founded by non other than Benjamin Franklin himself. As we honor Veterans this week I can’t help but think about the fact that these 4 men and millions like them were not lifetime soldiers, they responded to the call and afterwards returned home to get married, have careers, have children and live the rest of their lives seperate from their military service. What is it that the military impresses on men and women that they carry with them for the rest of their lives. Here are some thoughts
